WHY KNOW IRAN ?
Know Iran website teaser - Music by Iranian trap artist, Asadi.
Because the WORLD deserves to know and better understand this part of itself…
Search ‘Iran’ online and you are almost certain to be met with an avalanche of negative headlines linked to politics and now, war. But beyond the negativity, stereotypes and one-sided narratives lies another, lesser-known Iran.
This website showcases those aspects of Iran that rarely make the headlines: its landscapes, people, culture, history, art, food, fashion, music, sport, cinema, literature, wildlife and more. Content on these topics does exist online, but it is often buried beneath an ocean of political news and noise.
Know Iran seeks to address this by bringing together and curating positive, non-political Iran content in one place - making it easier to discover, explore and share, while helping to challenge common misconceptions and stereotypes along the way.
The vision for the platform is to eventually encompass further writings/blogs and podcasts to delve into and explore the various videos/subjects that are shared on the site.
It’s time to know Iran…
A land of 29 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, set against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains and ski slopes, lush forests and grasslands, golden coastlines and mesmerising deserts - and breathtaking cities where modernity fuses with antiquity.
A country shaped by over 5,000 years of history, culture, architecture and cuisine; the birthplace of one of the world’s first great empires, and of ideas and innovations that would echo far beyond its borders and time.
The land of beloved, world-famous mystical poets Rumi, Hafez and Khayyam, whose verses speak to universal themes of love, mindfulness and the human spirit - and of Cyrus the Great, who freed the Jewish people from Babylonian captivity and established the first ever charter of human rights.
And above all, the home of a great people: innately hospitable, sophisticated, peace-loving and hugely talented; especially its bold women and youth, who continue, against all odds, to push the boundaries of progress and achievement in science and engineering, enterprise, art, film, architecture, fashion, sport, music and beyond.
This place belongs to all of us…
Welcome to the Iran less known. 🌍
Enjoy & please share.
Farzad.
